I'm still here. Skipped the last two linked assignments but I'm back!
As I mentioned before, For my birthday I received a photography mentorship with the super fabulous Kristin. I have learned SOOO much in the last few weeks. I still have oodles to learn and my pictures are far from perfect, but I'm happy with the progress I've made in my photography. My thought process of taking pictures has completely changed. Kristin has taught me how to have real intent when shooting and pay more attention to light, composition, focus, etc.
One of my lessons was on Light. It was definitely a struggle for me to capture different lighting situations. Without a doubt my biggest hurdle was backlight.

The sun was bright and hot, but Tanner was a trooper letting Mommy take tons of shots. Shooting directly into the sun was no easy feat for this amateur, but I kinda like how they turned out and the sun flares were a nice bonus!!

I love them! Back light is difficult and you just have to practice and practice bc every lens treats it differently. But once you find familiarity with how your camera and lens work the back light/sunflare you kinda get addicted to it! I think you are going to enjoy this summer with your new found gift! Looking forward to more.
And yay for little boy willing to be your model! Can he give some pointers to my son?
They're beautiful, I love the light burst. I don't have any little kids to practice on (they're so much cuter than adults), so I'm going to make my husband be my victim, hehehe
these are just awesome! i agree with tracey, it takes tonnes of practice but once you get it, you can't stop. ;)

Beautiful job on the backlight! Can you share your secret? ;) (My backlight attempts are always filled with a lot of chromatic aberration.)

Love the flare in the last one....back lighting is the hardest! I get so frustrated with trying to nail lighting, but this week gave us a reason to try. And what a cute expression!
