First Piano Lesson

Mason has wanted to start piano lessons for awhile now.  (Is it normal for kids to want to take music lessons??)  Anywho........ I wanted him to take lessons from Taylor's amazing piano teacher, but he suggested Mason begin piano with someone else first to learn the basics, become confident with it then transfer over to him.  After I tried 3 different piano teachers with no luck, I gave up and thought we'd have to wait awhile.  Then Taylor's amazing piano teacher had the idea that Taylor could teach Mason piano.  Of course!  Why didn't I think of that.  I wasn't sure if it would work, but I had high hopes.

Mason had his first lesson on President's Day.  Taylor dug out her old books and they got right to work.  It was so cute to see them sitting there together.  Mason picked it up quickly and after awhile was playing a song.  He was so proud of himself!  He played that song over and over and over the rest of the day.  He some became bored with that song, so she taught him a new one the very next day - which he then played over and over and over for the rest of the day. We were on a roll!  Taylor joked with me that I should pay her $5 a lesson to teach Mason.  I laughed out loud. Good one Taylor!

Taylor's teaching career was short-lived however.  Two days later one of those piano teachers called and said she had an opening.  Hooray!  I told Mason and he was so excited because the teacher was the mom of one of his good friends.  He got a little sad for a minute and asked if Taylor could still teach him too.  Isn't that sweet?  I reassured him that his sister would still help him practice.

Mason's first lesson with his new teacher was today.  He asked every 5 minutes if it was time for his lesson.  His teacher was impressed with what he already knew.   Soon after his lesson, he and Taylor began fighting over the piano.  Seriously?!??  My kids fight over the Wii remote or where to sit in the car, but now the piano too?  Never thought that would be a problem.  Oh boy......
