Let's try this again...hopefully without interruption.
1. Last night (and early this morning) was so much fun! After Mason's initial vomiting, we quickly got him cleaned up, re-sanitized the toilet, rinsed his mouth out, washed his hands, washed my hands, got him a drink, and laid him back down on the couch. I thought that would be it for awhile - after all I only got sick twice and they were hours apart. I told him if he felt yucky again to run to the bathroom. We relaxed and he laid quietly for a little bit. Not long after, he quickly sprang back up and ran back to the bathroom. We did the whole routine again, and he laid back down on the couch. Sure enough after a little break, we started the cycle over once more. After about the 4th or 5th time, I realized this might go on all night. His cycles were in about 30-40 minute increments. I finally broke out a bucket and towels in case he didn't make it to the toilet on time. (Luckily he did though.) I sat up with my boy and watch him only catch a wink or two of sleep before darting off again. Poor kid was suffering and in pain. We gave up on sleep after awhile and watched some TV. I lost count, but it was close to a dozen times that he threw up. The last time occurred around 4:30am and we sat back down on the couch and that's the last thing I remember. By 10 this morning he was still weak, but feeling so much better. By the afternoon he was up and around and back to himself. This thing comes on so fast and leaves just as quickly.
2. Taylor woke up with a tummy ache this morning, so I figured she was the next victim. She was down the whole day and I was waiting for her to start puking too, but it never happened. I think she was milking the sickness a little bit by constantly asking us to bring her stuff since she was too weak to get up. I knew she was feeling better by tonight when she asked if she could go to her friend's house to watch a movie (no - we didn't let her go)
3. After only getting about 4 hours of sleep, I woke up congested and was a zombie for most of the day. I spent the morning re-sanitizing doorknobs, toilets, bathroom sinks and kitchen countertops. Then I realized I could make myself crazy doing this over and over. I did the same thing on Monday and Tuesday and this awful virus still managed to get someone else. So I did the best I could, accepted defeat of the illness-that-shall-not-be-named and moved on to the Mount Everest of laundry.
4. Boys played cars and some games in the afternoon - Connect Four was the favorite. Sweet Mason was concerned about infecting his siblings and even asked if he should put on gloves while playing with Tanner.
5. With two kids down and Tanner more of a menace than anything, Zach was my very reluctant helper for the day. He unloaded the dishwasher, put away laundry, wiped down some cabinets, and took out the garbage - all while muttering under his breath something about life not being fair, etc etc.......
6. The day ended taking Pearl to the groomer, Andrew on a quick bishopric visit, Taco Bell for dinner, and watching Deathly Hallows Part 2 with the kids.
7. I have GOT to get the gift wrapping done somehow. There are only 2 presents under the tree and they are ones that Taylor bought herself and wrapped. Andrew says I'm denying our kids the childhood joy of being able to shake presents and guess what they are. I know, but I don't want to have to pull an all-nighter 2 days in a row - this mama needs sleep!! Can't the gifts wrap themselves? Where are you elves when I need you?
8. Speaking of which, this reminds me of a conversation I had in the last few weeks with Taylor. Now that she knows Santa isn't real, we were talking about how the parents have to stay up and get things ready on Christmas Eve, etc. Then she said, "Mom, no wonder you are so tired every year on Christmas morning!" LOL!
