1. Spent the better part of this morning getting the rest of our Christmas cards addressed, stuffed, licked and stamped. I usually print our own return address labels. However, I ran out today after only 20 cards and I was NOT about to write out our address over 70 times. Luckily Andrew got some free address labels from the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation last week, so I had plenty of labels to finish up the cards. Who cares that each one has a picture of an elk on it. Let's just pretend they're reindeer okay??
2. Taylor successfully re-gifted the Justin Bieber toothbrush tonight for her Beehive gift exchange. Taylor came home with about 5 movie theater size boxes of candy as her gift. A toothbrush for a bunch of candy....how ironic.
3. Got my food assignment for the Dixon family Christmas Eve dinner - Bacon Wrapped Chestnuts. Whew! No relish tray for me this year!! LOL....
It's kind of a running joke between Andrew and I regarding the food assignments I'm given when it comes to Dixon family gatherings. In the past 15 years, I have always been in charge of the relish tray. In the beginning, I felt lucky that I got off easy. Then I started to get a little annoyed that that was the ONLY assignment I was getting year after year - whether it was Easter, Christmas, Thanksgiving, Sunday dinner, whatever. Heidi always brought the relish tray. I was beginning to feel like they thought I couldn't actually cook or didn't trust me to do something a little more substantial. A couple of years ago, it came time to hand out assignments for another Dixon Christmas Eve. I finally spoke up (in a half joking way) and said, "you know, I can bring something BESIDES a relish tray!!! I guess they got the hint because that year I was promoted from relish tray to Bacon Wrapped Chestnuts. Woohoo! I haven't been asked to bring a relish tray since. However, now I'm asked to bring the bacon wrapped chestnuts every time. Hmm, I'm sensing a pattern........
4. Tomorrow night is Taylor's orchestra concert at school. I talked to Andrew's mom last week and invited them to come. They planned to meet at our house and follow us over. Talked to them again on Sunday about it, and again this afternoon when I picked up Taylor's dress that was hemmed. About 6 o clock tonight our doorbell rang. I opened the door and there are my in laws. I was confused and they said they were here for the concert. D'OH!! I felt awful telling them that the concert is Thursday night. Oh well. They came in for a few minutes and visited with us and then went back home.
5. Just for laughs - another funny that a friend posted on Facebook.....

Bacon wrapped chestnuts.
Can I come to your party? ;)
love your 4 gift idea. Wish I had used that back in the day. Now I'm to the point where I don't want to outshine parents or Santa, so I try to get something they want, that is cool, but not too cool. Plus something to wear, which is never well received. It has become my favorite moment to watch Drew's reaction to a clothing gift!
I can so relate to this post! For YEARS now every time I am asked to bring stuff to thanksgiving dinner it was always YAMS. Yams, which by the way nobody ate. Come to find out, nobody really likes them, not because I was a bad cook, but because nobody really likes eating yams period. I'm still waiting to graduate to something else. . . So good for you for graduating to the next stage! :)
Your bacon wrapped chesntnuts are sooo tasty! Recipe Blog??? yes, I think it needs to be on there!
