If It Were Up to Three Year Olds....

This week it's my turn to have Mason's preschool group at my house. Our class was this morning and with it being the day before election day, I tried to incorporate voting into my lesson. During snack time the kids voted for which cracker they wanted (Ritz was the winner hands down over Cheez-its.) However, I thought it would be humorous to see what presidential candidate they would 'vote' for. I sat each of them down and showed them a picture of McCain and then one of Obama and asked them who they were. I got some pretty random answers:

JOHN MCCAIN
Cak
President
A line
Alnoty (not sure what that word is, but the girl spelled it for me)
BARACK OBAMA
Cak 2
President Johnson
I don't know
A guy from TV
Joe, my dad

After that I asked each of them to pick which one they liked best and would you believe it? Obama was the winner 4 to 1. I'm sure Obama would love to know that here in Nevada there's a little group of preschoolers that picked him over McCain. I guess health care, taxes, and the economy doesn't matter much to a bunch of three year olds -- it's all about looks.

Our Halloween went well. We spent the evening at our ward's trunk or treat on Friday and had a good time (until our car battery died and we had to get a jump!) We enjoyed yummy chili and hot dogs and I made sure I was first in line for a scone this year since I've missed them in years past. I cooked a triple batch of chili but unfortunately my pot was placed at the end of the table which meant I brought most of it home, so I've been eating chili for lunch everyday since.

Isn't he the cutest UPS man you've ever seen?

We even got a visit from The Great Pumpkin who thankfully took most of our candy away and left the kids a couple of dollars.

Well, I haven't had lunch yet so I'm off to the kitchen to have another bowl of chili. Then I think I'll follow that with a chocolate or two from what's left of our Halloween candy stash.

I'm glad Halloween was great and that you guys were well. Your kids looked cute in their costumes. The UPS idea is adorable (or maybe it's just the kid in the costume).

Great costumes! My Ethan went as Dr. JOnes as well. I LOVE the UPS man. It reminds me of Doug Heffernan from the TV series King of Queens! Is that who he is? I just had to know!

The Dixons are part of the elite class --so much so that their children dress up like the common folk (UPS driver) for Halloween! Next year the costume will be a blue Wal-Mart smock as part of the "check-out" girl costume.

Looks like you had fun. You must have really tricked out your trunk for the battery to die. Kids all looking so cute. You should have just froze some of the chili, then you wouldn't have to eat it everyday. Andrew FYI, good flat irons are like 100 bucks so Mr. Seacrest can afford but I can't. Plus the iron worked great!Obviously a lot of voters had the I.Q of preschoolers!!

And yes, you do have the cutest UPS driver ever:)

Hey! Your kiddos look so cute in their costumes - and yes, little UPS man is quite a looker!

By the way, thanks for the congrats. I didn't make a big announcement about it....I've been pretty nervous this time around. Anyway, we'll find out whether it's pink again or blue in December!

Carrie -
I didn't make the costume but ordered it online. Back in September we got a costume catalog in the mail and the kids were looking thru it - Mason showed Andrew the picture of the UPS costume and said, " I want to be a box man for Halloween!"

John Skiba -
Thanks for the costume idea for Taylor for next year!!

Stop with the chili! It's funny the things we choose to scrimp on and what we waste money on. I re-use gallon size freezer bags but eat at McDonalds at least once a week. Just say no!
