Conversation #1 - Monday morning before school
(Mason comes into our bathroom acting really sad.)
ANDREW: Mason, what's wrong?
MASON: Zackie called me a NOUN!
ANDREW: What are you talking about?
MASON: Zackie called me a NOUN!!
ANDREW: I don't understand........
(Zach is called upstairs to clarify what's going on)
ANDREW: Zach, what did you say to Mason?
ZACHARY: I called him a noun - a person, place or thing!
ANDREW: Well Mason that's true, you are a noun
(Mason walks away and starts heading back downstairs and says angrily)
"I DON'T WANT TO BE A NOUN ANYMORE!!"
Conversation #2 - Tuesday afternoon after I pick up Taylor from piano
TAYLOR: Mom, are we going anywhere for Veterinarians Day?
ME: (Giggling) Uh, no we're not going anywhere. But let me point out two things Taylor. Number one, we don't have a holiday that celebrates Veterinarians. Number two, it's called Veterans Day.
(Now we're both laughing)
TAYLOR: What are Veterans?
ME: Veterans are soldiers - the men and women in the military who have fought in wars and have defended our country and our freedom. Once they return home from the war they are called Veterans.
TAYLOR: Oh, like John McCain! He is a Veteran!! He was a prisoner for 5 years!!
