It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year

Ahhhh, the first day of school once again.

Do any of you remember that TV commercial from a year or two ago? It was for Office Max or Staples I believe........Anyway - in the commercial it shows families shopping for school supplies. All the kids are sulking with big frowns on their faces while all the parents are dancing up and down the aisles and in the background the song "It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year" is playing. I got such a kick out of that commercial and that song was definitely playing in my head this morning.

In hindsight, this summer seemed to pass by pretty quickly. We had a lot of fun, but I think we were all ready for school to start up again. Taylor has always been one who loves school. Last year she kept asking me why I can't sign them up for safe-key so they could stay after school and do fun stuff!! Zach on the other hand has always been a bit more apprehensive about school starting. Two years ago he was really nervous for kindergarten and kept asking to go back to preschool. First grade came and once again more nerves knowing that he would be away from home all day and eating lunch there. Not this year - after attending the back to school night last week and seeing friends and meeting his teacher, he starting saying how excited he was for school to start again. Yesterday he was counting down the hours and even asked if Daddy could wake him up at 4:30 am! Well I was in my bathroom getting ready this morning and thought I would wait until 7am before waking the kids up. At about 6:45 am there's a little knock on my bathroom door and Zach comes in - he is fully dressed, backpack on, had breakfast, brushed his teeth, and carrying his packed lunch! It was so cute. I told him school didn't start until 8:30, but he was so excited he said he got up at 6:02 and got ready. What a character!

It will be nice to spend some quiet afternoons again with Mason and Tanner, and running errands with only half of my kids :)

I'm right there with you! It is the most wonderful time of the year! I don't know how moms who home school occupy their kids all day! I was leaping for ideas!

Our school started a week ago. I can't believe the thing that I have been able to get done in the last week..Ken keeps telling me I need a hobby. I am a free woman with only three kids at home.

I'm jealous. They still haven't finished building Max's school so we haven't started yet. Still ticking off as the days go by. Good luck in school!

I am glad there are other mom's that feel the same way about school starting. I always look forward to it too. Its so nice to have a schedule and bedtimes. Zach is funny, it so funny that kids get obsessed with time.

That is the cutest! I wish I could say the same for my kids, this past had been rough getting them up and ready for school on time; where did I go wrong?

Hey Andrew,
I saw your comment on Leslie's blog awhile ago, but I have not been able to spend much time blogging lately. Anyway, send me your gmail address and I can send you an invite to our blog. Tiffanyiswright@gmail.com

The Dixon's do breed well and your kids are no exception. All spruced up and excited for the first day of school.. too bad that enthusiasm fizzles out so quickly.
Enjoy your partial peace and quiet!
