Beach Vacation

Ahhhh, our week at the beach. It was amazing and we thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it. Our time was mostly spent relaxing on the beach but we did a lot of fun things.
Here are some highlights of our trip, along with lots of pictures -- Enjoy!!
  • kicking off the week with a picnic in La Jolla (a tradition in the Leavitt/Runyon clan.) We celebrated Wade's birthday with Rubios and cake - Yum!!!

  • seeing this fine specimen at La Jolla parading around in his speedo was an extra special treat! (and no, this is not a picture of Andrew)

  • spending hours and hours sitting in a beach chair doing ABSOLUTELY NOTHING!!!
  • hearing the kids laughter as they splashed around in the ocean

  • watching Zachary dig holes in the sand for hours on end (at the beginning of the week Zackie said he was going to try to dig all the way to China)

  • trying to keep Tanner from eating too much sand and seaweed

  • boogie boarding and body surfing
  • Weinerschnitzel lunch on the beach
  • celebrating Tiffany's 21st birthday at Ruby's Diner on the Pier

  • running into our bishop and his family on the beach (Good to see you Johnny & Steph!!)
  • watching dolphins jumping out of the water from our balcony
  • collecting seashells

  • taking a break from the beach and spending a day at Sea World (nobody wanted to go to Legoland)

  • the gorgeous weather and the continuous sound of the ocean
  • swimming in the pool
  • Zackie and Taytay getting buried in the sand by Alec, Dixon and Jordan

  • heading over to the nearby marina to try the tasty fish & chips and deep fried oreos we heard about (pieces of fish were ginormous!)

A few observations after spending time at the beach:

  1. we could easily manage living in a 900 sqft 1 bedroom condo on the beach with our 4 children for the rest of our lives
  2. whoever came up with the spray on sunscreen is a genius
  3. I don't tan - I burn
  4. $10 beach chairs break easily
  5. you can never have too many beach towels
  6. amazing how so many people are so comfortable wearing so little clothing

It was nice being together as a family and seeing our children have such a good time. We hope we have the opportunity to do it again next year. Thanks again to the Leavitts and Runyons for making our first beach vacation a memorable and fun one :)

What a fun beach trip! We've been to the beach lots, but are missing that whole family reunion part of it. I am jealous!! I think there is nothing more fun than watching your kids play all day in the sand. You know they are occupied and can't get into too much trouble. How did Zach do with his hole to China? I 'll look for him in the crowd as I watch the Olympics tonight. By the way, Heidi you look fantastic!

I have some photos for you and need your email.

PS...I'm so glad you didn't post Andrew's Speedo photos. Wade and Keith graced us one time and I am still not over the trauma of it.

I am glad you had a great time. We spent one day at the "beach" at Bear Lake and then everyone got the stomach flu and our beach vacation ended early. I am glad your vacation turned out so great. Your kids are growing up fast!

Oh the speedo shot is great!! It's as great as the 70 year old Granma we watched change her swimsuit right on the beach!! Love the pictures- it's so relaxing to be there and the kids are entertained for hours- if only sand cleaned itself up it would be perfect!

It was great to see you guys too! I miss being there so much, why did we have to come back? I don't have my pictures up yet because I want to get some of the ones that I took from my sister-in-laws camera too; but when I do the ones of your bishop boogie boarding will be a real treat for you to see! Anyhow, hopefully we will see you guys again soon, if not maybe we'll meet up again at the beach!

Must be nice to have no worries and relax on the beach for days....
Jason doesn't care much for extended beach trips, he's afraid he'll end up in the burn unit. I would go anytime!! Looks like you had a good time, it's always fun with family.(OK maybe not always)
