If I'm not mistaken, Andrew went to Sportsmans Warehouse not once, but four different times while we were in Utah. He absolutely loves that store. How excited do you think he was when he found out they are building one here in Vegas only minutes from our house? I'm in trouble.
One thing I really wanted to accomplish while I was up there was to try to get a nice updated picture of the kids. My dad's tractor was a cute backdrop, however my subjects were less than enthusiastic about their mother's plans. I snapped a few but the squinting from the sun proved too much and we gave up after a few minutes. The one above is the best of the bunch. The pictures below are some outtakes.
I think Zackie's body language in these last two say it all. Even cousin Mattie tried to sneak in on the last picture.
We were sad to leave and the kids kept asking us,"why do we have to go home?" I thought about it for a minute and was asking myself the same thing!
Andrew and I were talking about it and agreed that going up to South Weber is so fun and peaceful for our family. Once you take the exit and turn into the town where my parents live, it's almost as if the outside world disappears. I know everyone experiences the same thing whether it be at a family cabin in the mountains or a cruise ship out in the middle of the ocean: a place you feel is a true getaway from everything. What place is a true getaway for you? For me it's my parents' house in South Weber. We've been up there dozens of times over the years and coming home is usually no biggie. But this time it felt different somehow. As we drove home and the temperature gauge on our car kept rising and real life began to settle in, I desperately wanted to turn the car around. It's no fun to come home from vacation!!

Looks like a lot of fun. I always dread coming back to Vegas too.
Love the pictures. Sometimes those "true" shots are the best memories. what cute kiddos. Glad you had such a fun trip. you are making me homesick for Utah.
What a wonderful vacation! I totally understand the feeling about not wanting to come back to Vegas. It's hard to leave the cooler temperatures for the scortching heat, not to mention the slower lifestyle. The pictures are so cute. I love the tractor backdrop.
I really love the tractor pictures, the colors look so good. Vacations always go way too fast. I hope one of these years we will get to see you guys. There needs to be a family reunion or something, its been such a long time and everyone is so busy.
funny I never felt that way turning the corner to my parents home. Might just be the Utah thing.
Disneyland is our escape. It feels like another world there, eveyone is so friendly and accomodating. Although to enjoy it we usually go in the off season. While there, we usually take a drive down to the ocean and Ikea. Since all my family lives here that's our favorite get away.
Oh, I feel your pain. It's totally a Utah thing! But it looks like you had a wonderful time while there!!!
I hate to say it, but the same feelings you are describing are the exact reason for our moving up here. I felt the same way every time we left Utah. Last year, we drove home on July 5 and made the decision to finally make it official. We looked for houses and found one. Kids started school in September. I felt like the more brown the surroundings were, the more suffocated I felt inside. I became alive every time I came to Utah and died when I left. I sound dramatic, but I am not even kidding. This has been a great thing for the family. So, why not make it official? My kids would love to play more often.
I was so excited to see Mason in nursery on Sunday. I've missed him! He is just too dang cute!
What a fun time and probably just what you needed. Looks like your kids had a blast. I love Tanner's smile in those tractor photos.
I love those pictures of your kids on the tractor (esp the one where everyone was "done") too cute! Glad you had fun!!
