First Week

We survived our first week since bringing Tanner home, thanks to a lot of help from others. We had dinners brought in, relatives over to help with dishes and laundry, and carpool taken care of. I know we wouldn't have made it thru this week without everyone's generosity. It's been hard not having my mom here to help me and I feel so out of it most of the time because of lack of sleep and pain medication. I've been recovering well and my only complaints are some strong headaches and severely swollen feet. When Andrew left for work Monday morning, I didn't know how I was going to make it thru the day alone with 4 kids!! Slowly, every day I'm making it through. Several areas of life are still lacking (like laundry and finding time for a shower!) but as long as Taylor and Zach make it to school dressed and fed I'm okay... and who cares if Mason spends the whole day in his pajamas and watches too many episodes of Go Diego Go!

Little Tanner is a sweet baby. We grew concerned when he started to show signs of jaundice as the week progressed. We struggled with this when Mason was born and he had to spend 3 days at the hospital for light therapy--it was tough. Well Tanner's doctor appt was Friday and the doctor noticed him looking a little yellow, so he ordered a blood test. I started to worry because I didn't want to go thru this again!! We got the results Friday night and his bilirubin number was 14. The doctor said to get another blood test on Saturday and again Monday to see if he's going up. Andrew called someone and they gave Tanner a Priesthood blessing Friday night. We noticed his color improve right away. I took him into the lab on Saturday for his second blood test. The on call doctor called our house a few hours later and let us know that Tanner's bilirubin levels went down, not up so no further tests or treatment was necessary. Good news and we were so relieved. I am so grateful for this little "miracle." Tanner has improved a lot since Friday night and we have to keep him eating every 2 hours to help him continue to get better.

And big brother Mason is slowly warming up to the idea of having a baby around. He held Tanner and gave him kisses :)

Heidi, I am very impressed that you can find time to update your blog! It's crazy how when you are a new mom all you want to do is just get a shower. Good Luck! We're glad the billirubin counts are low and Tanner is improving. Both of our kids had extended stays in the hospital due to jaundice, so we're happy you guys are doing okay. Good Luck on figuring out how to manage 4 kids! I'm still trying to figure out my 2!

The first week that your husband goes back to work always seems the hardest doesn't it? Good job on getting your kids to school dressed and fed, that is quite an accomplishment I can imagine with two little ones in tow.
