Spring. Spring is old news around here. According to the calendar, the official day of Spring was on Tuesday. However, we've been having "spring-like" weather since January.
It's been a very mild winter around here. Vegas winters usually are, but this year seems more so; not just here but everywhere. I equate the severity of the seasons with clothing. I know it's been a mild winter when I don't get much use out of my sweaters and heavy coats. This winter I was only able to wear them a few times when the temperature had dropped below 60 - otherwise I was sweating to death.
Because we live in the desert, all the spring blooming happened weeks ago which means no good pictures to portray Spring. My picture of the blossoming plum tree that I used for the Spirit theme three weeks ago would've fit this theme nicely.
So instead, I will share what Spring means to me: countdown to heat.
This is the time of year when our temperatures slowly start creeping closer and closer to those ghastly triple digits that plague us for months. Today's high is supposed to be around 82. When I see temperatures in the 80's, it saddens me because I know summer heat is inching closer and closer. Give me 68 degrees, or 75 with a light breeze any day of the year. But when the 80's hit, things become uncomfortable. Fans start blowing, the car starts getting hot, air conditioners need to be turned on, places on my body start sweating that haven't perspired in months..............
I know, I know, I sound crazy - everyone looks forward to summer and the warmer weather. But count me out. I just want to stay in my 60 degree February if you don't mind.

Count down to heat? Wow that is so different from here!
You and I are soul sisters on the heat thing. I like summer for vacations and being with friends, but honestly the heat kills me. I melt. So yes, when I see it in the 80's I get sad too. I'm with you, I will take a 60 sunny day in February any day!!!!!!
Agreed. This is the time of year I start wishing I had a swimming pool in my backyard now that all the kids know how to swim.
Funny, I just got a post from my daughter http://kirashapedgirl.blogspot.com
in AZ this morning,
complaining that the temp was still
77 degrees at 10:30 last night.
That would be awful (for me).
Keep cool!
Give me cold any day, but hot and triple digits - awful!! I can't do it. I turn on the AC as soon as I get just a bit uncomfortable. What do you do in the summer when you can't play outside or even just be outside?! I went to Vegas on my 30th birthday which is the end of June - SO stinking hot...but I loved sitting by the pool all day long. ;)
VEGAS!!! FUN!!! I never imagined it getting cold there. I always imagined it HOT!!! Glad to hear that you get a break from the heat. Enjoy.
very true. getting in the 80s do scare me. at least in winter, we can layer up and feel warm... but even if we're down to wearing nothing.. we just keep sweating and feel so uncomfortable. i do like the mild 60's. so happy that my boyfriend lets me drive his new car.. it has AC.. whereas my little beater... doesn't! LOL!
Ah....80 degrees sounds so lovely to me right now. :)
Hoping the severe heat holds off for you for awhile!!
i can't even imagine what that would be like. i'd like the best of both worlds - your winter and spring and our summer and fall. ;)
I am loving the 80's right now, i wish they would hang around for another month or so but sadly i don't think its in the cards!
i'm working on your new header this afternoon!
haha. i'm with heather, i'd like the best of both worlds too :)
i can't even image triple digits right now... too much snow outside my window :)
I dont do heat either. Although i like your dry heat with no humidity! My sister in law lives in Vegas! We were there a few years back and it was 90 and perfect. And i wouldnt normally say that! 90 is usually too hot! If i can get work off ill be there in may!!
