Our last Friday of 2011 was a fun one.
1. Grandpa made us a super yummy pancake breakfast. Finally! Poor Zach had been asking all week for pancakes and his wish had come true. Unfortunately, his blood sugar was a little high before breakfast, so I made him wait to eat until it came down. Of course he wasn't happy with me. He argued that Grandpa's homemade syrup has no carbs in it so he can have some. Ha ha!!! If he only knew how many carbs were in that syrup.
2. We picked up Daddy at the airport and headed downtown. First up was eating at Tucanos. Another one of those places we try to hit every time we come to Utah. Yum, yum, yum. All the meat wrapped in bacon, the Brazilian lemonade, and my favorite - the lobster bisque.
3. With full tummies, we crossed the street and caught the Trax train to Temple Square. The train ride was the highlight of the evening for Tanner.
4. We walked around and saw the lights, watched the Nativity, and saw the Christus. So beautiful. I love seeing all the colorful lights with the temple lit up in the background. Too bad I forgot my camera :(
5. After Temple Square, Andrew suggested we go visit the Church History museum. We took the kids thru the exhibit on church history and the prophets. They loved it and thought the death masks were so interesting. Tanner was in heaven when he saw the Angel Moroni statue.
Then we headed upstairs to check out the 2 new exhibits - art by LeConte Stewart and an interactive Book of Mormon exhibit for kids. Both were fantastic. I loved the artwork. They were all paintings of rural Utah. Like Andrew said, this was the kind of artwork we'd love to have throughout our house. I'll now be on the hunt for prints of his artwork.
6. After dragging the kids away from the BOM exhibit, we boarded back on the Trax train to our car. One last stop at DQ in Centerville for ice cream and then back to Grandpa's.
What a great day.
