1. Today was Stake Conference. It was a wonderful meeting. The quote that stood out to me most was in the talk given by President Noorda, the 1st counselor in our Stake Presidency.........."What is the value of anything but the happiness it brings?" President Noorda said that in the upcoming year he is going to strive to be happier. I heard that and thought that's exactly what I need to do! We all have trials, and struggles, and hardships (some more than others,) but there is so much in our life that can bring us happiness and we shouldn't base our happiness on riches, or our appearance, or other worldly things....a great message.
Our Stake President also had a great talk. He talked about finding joy in aspects of the gospel. We can find joy in missionary work, going to the temple, and doing humanitarian service. He also listed other things we can find joy in:
Sacrament meeting and partaking of the sacrament
the Priesthood
Home and Visiting Teaching
Family Home Evening
Reading the scriptures and feasting on the words of God
We felt bad having to miss the adult session of conference last night because of the firm party. For me it's the best part of conference because I get so much out of it. But those two talks I heard today definitely uplifted me and I'm so grateful for such inspired leaders.
2. We visited Andrew's parents for a little while after conference. Needed Grandma to hem Taylor's orchestra dress since I no sewing abilities whatsoever! Today also happened to be their wedding anniversary. 58 years.
3. This was a funny conversation during dinner tonight:
TAYLOR: "Dad, what do you want for Christmas?"
ANDREW: "Ummm.....world peace."
TAYLOR:"Well that's gonna happen. Because there's pirates."
ME: (chuckling) "PIRATES???? We can't have world peace because of pirates?"
TAYLOR: "Well, actually it's Obama's fault we can't have world peace."
4. I went through my Christmas gift list and checked it twice and looks like I still have a lot to do....Ugh! I think I might finish it all up online tomorrow and get it over with.
5. Andrew and I watched 17 Miracles tonight after the kids went to bed. Such a touching movie. It's definitely more meaningful for us since Andrew's 3rd great grandmother's family is portrayed in the movie.
Christmas is 2 weeks from today!

I love Stake Conferences! And those talks sound wonderful! Thanks for sharing.
Taylor is hilarious!
I missed most of President Noorda's talk because I was in the halls with Mayci, but from what I did hear, it was great! President Richards' talk was good too! Definitely uplifting!
