Goodbye

We lost a dear friend yesterday. Casey Nish passed away after a nearly 5 year battle with leukemia. I haven't experienced death much in my life - I'm unsure what to do or say in these circumstances, but I wanted to share some feelings I've had over the last two days.

When we first moved into this ward back in 2003, Casey and Lani lived just a few houses down and were one of the first friends we made. We've shared alot of fun times with them these past few years and I'm so grateful we will have those memories to remember him and his great sense of humor. He has been our neighbor, our home teacher and even our insurance agent. During his long battle with such a terrible disease, he always amazed us with his positive attitude and strong will and determination. Casey was definitely a fighter and such a great example to so many. We are blessed to have known him.

While his passing brings us much sadness, we feel so much peace knowing that he won't have to suffer anymore. Goodbye Casey, we will miss you very much.

He sounds like a great guy. I'm sorry you guys lost him. My friends are my life like on a day to day basis - definitely my surrogate family.

I agree. Even when he was sick, he was smiling. Thanks for sharing your feelings and even though losing a good friend and people you love is hard, I think for me anyway, I feel really blessed to have them as a part of my life even if it's not for very long.
