Not only was yesterday Mother's Day, but Andrew and I also celebrated our 12th wedding anniversary. As much as we would have loved to run away alone for a few days, instead we had to settle for 3 hours on Saturday night for a quiet dinner of steak and lobster (which we seem to eat for most of our anniversary dinners over the years...)
Anywho, we were seated in the back corner of the restaurant and it was early and not crowded, so we were enjoying the peace and quiet. We had been there about 20 minutes when they seated a party next to us - 2 prom couples on a double date. This provided our entertainment for the evening! It was funny to watch them interact with each other and it made Andrew and I chuckle, thinking back to when we were teenagers on prom dates. The girls got up and went to the bathroom and after they walked away, Andrew leaned over to the teenage boys and said, " I do not envy you guys right now!!" You could feel the awkwardness of the whole situation -- the girls tugging at their dresses, the nervous laughter, the girls talking to each other instead of to their dates, cracking jokes with the waiter, etc. Ah, if they only knew what we knew......
Hard to believe it's been 12 years - I'm so lucky to be married to such a wonderful husband. Andrew brings so much happiness to my life and is always making me laugh!
To commemorate our anniversary, I wanted to share some pictures from our wedding day. Yes we do look like babies in our wedding photos, but I'd like to point out we were both 21.

What a fun anniversary dinner! I'm sure a bonus was the free high school prom entertainment that came with the dinner. It's nice to be past that stage in life. Congratulations!

Congrats. You guys have been married longer than us. We have a bunch of teenagers in our neighborhood. I enjoy watching and remembering also.

I love the pictures, you guys are so cute. I also love the fact that I am in the one picture and I have a lion's mane hair-do. I dont think I could get my hair to do that today. Anyway, Congratulations on 12 years!

I remember that day, hot and humid. Funny that you mention the prom kids because you and Andrew looked like the Prom King and Queen when you got married (only modest). Do you still have the pictures that the little kids took with the cameras at your reception? I'll bet they are hilarious. Congratulations, you guys were M.F.E.O.
