Last Monday morning Andrew's mom was over at our house - she was watching Mason and Tanner so I could take Zachary to a doctor appointment. Zachary asked her if she could take him to the fabric store. What? That's a strange request from a 7 year old boy. He went on to explain to Grandma all about our trip and how upset he was because Taylor threw up on his favorite blanket and he had to leave it on the side of the freeway, etc. etc. ( the puking incident I related in a previous post.) I didn't know this conversation took place until two days later when I was talking to Mom on the phone. I thought it was so sweet of him to ask his Grandma to help make him a new blanket.
Last Wednesday after school Grandma Dixon came and picked up Zachary and off they went to the fabric store. About an hour later they came back with fabric for his new blanket....it was 'police' fabric, with pictures of police cars, handcuffs, K-9 dogs, and badges all over it. He asked if she could have it done by the next day, but she said no, it would take her a few days. ( I guess he was a little anxious to get it done.)
Finally on Tuesday Grandma came over with Zackie's finished blanket - he loves it so much! He's been carrying it around ever since and sleeps with it every night.
Thanks Mom for making Zachary a new 'friend.'

That is the sweetest thing I have ever read! Yea Grandmas!!
I'm taking grandma notes...
I just found a picture of a quilt that Grandma Dixon made for me when I was younger! Is there no end to her talent?!?

I have a few Grandma Dixon blankets in my closet. Really, that is one of the best gifts to give because they last so long and every time you use them, you are reminded of how much they must have loved you to put so much effort into their gift. Here's to Grandma Dixon.
I decided when emily was in the hospital that I was never throwing her blanket away. She is my only child that has had a specific blanket. But, I am attached to it too. I probably would have carried it smelly all the way to California and back. I am glad Zachary likes his new blanket. Hey, I need your email address so I can put you on my blog to read it. If you have anyone else's addresses, I would appreciate that too. My email address is angela.ken625@gmail.com
I love blankies!! How fun to have a grandma so close to do those special, essential things only grandmas can do. My mom has made all my kids blankies and I am so glad she has, it is such a source of comfort. Especially for my baby who cannot go to bed or get hurt without her blankie and "pluggy". We have to fix the "pluggy" part pretty soon.
What a nice Grandma!!! I'm glad you found us. We will have to do something someday since we're practically in the same nieghborhood. It's just the daunting task of getting a babysitter!Hey would you mind just putting Jason and Chandra- Jason is all skeptical about having our last name on the blog. You know men and thier wierd quirks. Once I figure out how to add friends I'll put you guys up!
