I started my birthday celebrating a little early - Thursday morning some girlfriends took my friend Lani and I out to breakfast at Mimi's Cafe. (Lani's birthday is the 7th and we tend to celebrate our birthdays together every year.) It was a yummy breakfast of course and nice to sit and visit with friends - even though we had 2 babies, a one year old and 3 two year old boys with us, we still managed to have a good time! Luckily I got to leave my kids at home with Grandma!
On Friday I spent my birthday cleaning the house, doing laundry, etc. Sounds so exciting doesn't it? I always tell my kids that on their birthday they don't have any chores - I wish the same rule applied to me!! Anyway, I wasn't expecting much - birthdays seem to lose their luster as I get older. I tried to get a babysitter so Andrew and I could go out to dinner that night, but after calling 3 different girls, I finally gave up. It was ward temple night, so I knew babysitters would be hard to come by. I was so bummed.
When Andrew got home from work that night he said to come outside to see my surprise and guess what was in the garage:
Now most women would ask for jewelry or a new pair of shoes, but not me. Andrew asked me what I wanted for my birthday - besides a pure need for new clothes due to weight loss, the only other thing I really wanted was a bike. Silly I know, but I was so excited!! I love my new bike!! I haven't had a bike since I was Taylor's age! I rode up and down our street a few times and it's so comfortable. The kids think it's great that Mommy has a bike and now they want to go on rides together.
After a quick test drive of my new wheels, we decided to get takeout from Carinos and eat dinner at home with the kids. Andrew was so sweet and apologized for not getting a birthday cake, but said he didn't want to sabotage my diet. Instead I ordered just one slice of Pecan Turtle Cheesecake and ate half of it - it was my birthday after all and after weeks and weeks of no sweets, I deserved a little treat!! It was so yummy and a nice end to my birthday!

Happy Birthday! What a great gift. You will be able to have a lot of fun with your kids! I got a bike a when Max was little and I am always sticking the kids in the trailer and heading out. You will love it!!
Happy Birthday Heidi! That's an awesome gift! It's been too long since I've ridden a bike! And wow, I'm impressed, you have such control to only eat 1/2 of the cheesecake!!!
so what is it like being in your mid 30's?
Happy Birthday!!! No matter what age you are a bike is a wonderful gift!! I love my bike, although it's almost time for an upgrade. I admire your control with your cheesecake. I dont have very good control with goodies. I always have to give it away or throw it away! Your Awesome!!!!
I'm glad you were able to enjoy the breakfast even though the rest of us had our little ones. Awesome bike!! You are now ready to conquer the hill by Arbor View! I might need your encouragement this time.
Just to clarify, I don't have much control over goodies - I did finish the other half of the cheesecake the next day :)
Steve - I don't feel any different at 33 then I did at 23 really, just more tired!
Camille - as long as you're there with me, bring on the hills!!
Hooty!
have you ever realized how close that is to "hotty?" Anyway, can Andrew come out and play softball with us one night a week? He is too scared to axe you hisself.
Thanks,
Stephen M. Dixon, Esq.
aka "The Ultimate Fisherdude..."i was going to write something else, but it probably wasn't appropriate. Andrew, you know what I'm talking about. ROFL
Cool bike!! and Happy 33rd Birthday!
Happy late birthday! I didn't realize we had birthdays so close. What a nice surprise getting a bike! Hope you enjoyed your day!
Steve - you can call me Hotty if you want to...
I don't care if my hubby plays softball as long as he doesn't break any bones!
Andrew, when Heide posted, "Guess what was in the garage?" I immediately thought to myself, "He got her a new van." A bike is cool though. My bike has like .5 miles on it and it is about 10 years old. I just move it from house to house. Tires are flat....do the math: I don't ride a lot.
Happt Birthday! I would love a bike as well. My problem is that I will ALWAYS opt for clothes if I had to choose!
Happy Birthday! Cool bike!! :)
Happy Birthday. Sorry all of us took the babysitters on your birthday. Love the new bike.
Keith - If Andrew ever bought me a van, I'd say no thanks!! I'm very happy with my Expedition!
Happy birthday Heidi! 33 isn't so bad - I'm not that excited for 40 though. Cute bike, too. It's nice to hear I'm not the only one struggling with the whole weight loss thing. I recently committed myself to 6 months of (semi) hard core diet & exercise. I don't need new clothes yet, but at least the ones I have are starting to fit better!
Congrats on the bike, and happy birthday!!! The picture of your baby is sooo cute. I'm impressed by only the half he cheesecake too!
Happy Birthday! That's amazing self control! You should check out the body for life program- you get a whole free day once a week!
Happy birthday. I wish I could have gone to breakfast with you guys. I love the bike. What fun!
I just e-mailed you about the candles Heidi, so check it! TTYL
