My two little boys aren't letting me get a lot of things accomplished today, but I at least wanted to post pictures of the kids in their costumes from last night. Let's see how well I can type this while holding a baby!!!
Halloween was a great day! Taylor and Zach had so much fun at their school parties and we had a good time at the ward trunk or treat last night (our first family outing with baby Tanner!) Great minds think alike because it seemed to me that a lot of girls in Taylor's age range were dressed as witches (in all different varieties) and most 2 year old boys were dressed up as cowboys just like Mason! I was so glad that Mason was a good sport about the whole costume thing. I was afraid he wouldn't want to wear his hat and vest, but he kept it on the whole time and loved getting candy! The poor kid was sucking on candy all night with the wrappers still on!
After the trunk or treat, I took Taylor and Zach around to a few houses in the neighborhood for the "real" trick or treating. It makes me sad because I remember as a child in Texas walking up and down every street and knocking on every door and getting candy. Last night we walked about 4 streets and there were maybe 3 or 4 houses on each street passing out candy........where's everyone's halloween spirit? One house said they were out of candy and gave my children packages of crackers!! How funny is that? Taylor and Zach wanted to throw them away. And then another house just had a large bowl of candy on the porch so the kids could help themselves. I told Taylor and Zach to pick 1 or 2 pieces but looked over and caught Zach grabbing 3 and 4 handfuls and putting them in his bucket! I quickly ran up there and demanded he put most of them back, which he did. We finally made it back home and this was the end result.........
Yikes!! This doesn't include the large plastic bowl of candy we had leftover from the trunk or treat or the junk they brought home from school! Now, having all this candy around the house is a nightmare when you have a diabetic child, so I think we'll do a trade like last year.........the kids keep a few pieces of candy and give the rest to "The Great Pumpkin" in exchange for a small toy or money. Besides, Mason keeps asking for candy and their mom is eating all the fun size candy bars!!!
I hope your Halloween was a good one.......now bring on Thanksgiving and Christmas!!! Can you believe Thanksgiving is exactly 3 weeks from today!?!

trunk or treat is becoming a tradition in the church. pretty soon we will see it on the church's master calendar. might even see sacrament meeting only when halloween falls on sunday...
uncle mark
I like that "great pumpkin" idea. I think i am going to try that with my kids this year. Of course Dustin and I will have to actually keep the candy......for medicinal purposes of course (chocolate does wonders for monotonous depression). By the way Taylor looks so old in these pictures.
The kids are so cute! I agree about the witches- almost all of Lexi's age were cute little witches.
Uggg.. why did you have to remind me that Thanksgiving is only 3 weeks away! I'm not quite ready for it yet!
Yea the witch thing is funny! McKinley and Carly were witches too. Where is Tanner? Didn't you dress him up? He will hold this against you for the rest of your life. Our candy had 3 days to eaten, then it is mine! I have a hiding place, and bring out a little at a time, or I just eat it. I went to get their bags out this year, and they were still full of candy from last year, in the garbage. That is such a good feeling.
Happy Halloween! Great costumes! I like the candy exchange idea. We have WAY to much left over!
Cute Kiddos! I never thought about the challenges you might have with Halloween and Zach being diabetic. I guess if you monitor what he gets then he is okay. Great idea with The Great Pumpkin. He may visit here next year. I can't believe you are already counting down to Thanksgiving. Time to start Christmas shopping!!
What fun! Look at all the candy! Kylee sucked on a sucker all night with the wrapper still on too :)
