Baby Name Dilemma

What should we name the baby?
This is obviously a topic of conversation in our house almost daily. Taylor and Zach will offer many suggestions, usually names of classmates or a TV character. One of the top 3 questions I get asked by everyone I talk to-- "Do you have any names picked out?" There are some boy names we like, but I will keep them under wraps for now because I don't want someone to "ruin" them for me. In your own experiences with having children, do any of you think you shouldn't use a name because you know someone whose child has the same name? I mean I really struggled to name our 3rd child MASON DIXON but it turned out to be such a non-issue.
I don't know why we struggle with boy names--if this baby was a girl, she'd have a name already. Maybe it's because Andrew and I are the babies of both families (this child will be the 15th grandchild on the Watts side and the 30th on the Dixon side) and a lot of names are already taken. So between brothers, uncles, brothers in law, cousins and nephews here is a list of boy names in our families already:

Mark.....Tyler.....Jackson.....David.....Bradley.....Jordan.....James.....Benjamin.....Cordell.....Brandon....Noah.....Russell.....Troy Ethan....Harrison.....Wade.....Dixon.....Michael.....Barry.....Chase.....Paul.....Stephen.....Adam.....Matthew.....Brock.....Ryan.....
Jake.....Parker.....Max.....Cameron.....Kayden.....Austin.....Caleb.....Hayden.....Connor

So with that in mind, I'm asking all of you out there for name suggestions. What boy names do you like? [And no Jill, I will not name the baby Richard :) ]
Now I know there are some of you who just read our blog but don't make comments, so I want to hear from all of you too--the more ideas the better!!!

Steve and I have talked about this a lot since we both have big families, and I have large step-families as well. We decided the only names we wouldn't use are the names of our immediate brothers' and sisters' kids, so that our child won't have the same name as their cousin. But otherwise it didn't matter if our own brothers/sisters, cousins, etc already have that name because would there be any names left? :) I am still debating if I will name our next boy the same name as any of the other boys in the family with the last name Dixon, but we have some really great names in our family, so I might have to. We for sure want to know what you decide though. GOOD LUCK!

I agree with the above comment. I have named my kids names that are the same name as my cousin and my cousin's daughter because they were names I really liked. And honestly I see them maybe once every couple of years. BUT here are some of the names that I have liked for boys and since I will probably never get to use any of them free if you like any of them. I like: Harrison, Henry, Jamison, Jack, Calvin, J.D., Owen, Cash, Hudson, Crew, Jettison and Beck. Those are the ones off the top of my head that I particularly like. Or you could always use Dustin!

My friend just had a baby a few days ago, her ultra sound said it was a girl, but they couldn't decide a name. She had the baby and it was a boy, coming home to a very pink room and a whole closet full of new, already washed pink clothes! Maybe you're cursed like her and you can't choose a name because it's a girl!!!
I'm with Jessica, I'll share all my favorite boy names because I'll never get to use them. Here's a few of my favorites, oh and just so you know if you don't use one of my names I will be totally offended! :)
Cody, Hunter, Max, Brian, Tyler, Tyson, Trevor, Scot, Andrew:) Xander, Bryant... I could keep going, but I suppose I shouldn't take up so much room on here! Hope you find the perfect name- I think that's the hardest thing we have to do, well beside being sick, tired, round, oh and then push a baby what size out of a place what size?!?!

I am still voting for Richard. Dick Dixon is the best. I have good boy names, I will probably not ever get to use them. My favorite one is Grant. Our problem is that we want to name a boy after so many people his name would go something like this Grant Aaron Michael Timothy Johnson. sounds like a president.

My vote is for Tate and Bryant is not bad either!!!!

If you're going to leave a comment anonymous, at least identify yourself!

I think it would be only appropriate to name him Michael... LOL!

But really, some of my favs are - Brady (or Bradley), Isaac, or James. I don't think you should worry about him having the same name as someone else, though - in my family we have 2 madalyns, 3 Davids, 2 Ikes, and half dozen Don's and nobody minds!

Good Luck!

Becky Stevens and I were friends in High School and we actually hung out when we both had our first babies, we were in Vegas, then. Her and Jeff are nice people.
By the way, my all time favorite boy name...Crew (I can't ever use it because my it doesn't sound right with my last name). Good Luck with #4.

Who are these anonymous people? I can't stand it! Who can I credit with the name Tate if you don't tell me who you are?

isn't it obvious who anonymous is by the suggestion of the name????

I can get ideas from these also. This kid will be blessed without a name unless we come up with something quick.

Okay--there are 3 anonymous comments on here--I obviously know the first comment was made by Mark, but the other 2 anonymous comments for the name Tate? I have no idea who you are.

anonymous for Tate #1 was my daughter Jennifer. She's disappointed you didn't use her suggestion for Tate, but we both think Tanner is a great choice. And I love your blog about your panic about not being ready for the baby, brings back funny memories for all us 'older' bloggers. 18 years later, does Scott look like he suffered for lack of anything? Yet I don't think I had the pictures, a name, or even the box of boys baby clothes washed yet. Congrats on the new family member, can't wait to meet him in person.
