Oh What Do You Do in the Summertime....

When it's WAY TOO HOT and you have no pool?

Well, you take your 3 bored kids and hit the grocery store!! Woohoo! My car thermometer read 110 degrees when we hit Smiths today--I tried to make it a quick run (I said tried!) and we exited Smiths only 90 minutes or so later, with some items not on my grocery list (Spiderman fruit snacks, 3 donuts with sprinkles, Ben & Jerry's ice cream, and bologna -- just to name a few.) Now that I'm a parent with kids in a 9 month school instead of year round, I'm starting to think that maybe this whole summer vacation thing is a little overrated!
I wanted to share some more photos from our Utah trip--

This first one is when we took the kids up to
East Canyon Reservoir (past Morgan) for a break from the heat and to throw rocks in the lake--we had to practically drag them there. At first they wanted nothing to do with it but by the end, they didn't want to leave! It felt so nice up there!

I absolutely LOVE this next picture and I'm so glad my camera was close by in time for me to capture it! The kids had been outside with grandpa for awhile in the garden and when I looked out the window to check on them this is what I saw. I thought it was so cute and snapped the photo. When I pointed it out to my Mom however, she was instantly concerned because she had never seen my dad just lay down like that! (The little girl in the photo is my sister's daughter Matti.)

Speaking of my sister Cami, I wanted to share this cute Fourth of July dessert she came up with this year--she called them "Fruit Flags" - just a quickie version of those flag cakes you always see recipes for. She used Twinkies cut in half and then topped them with cream and the fruit--they were a HUGE hit with the kids! Yum!!

P.S. We're still trying to get the hang of this blog, so we'll try to update it every few days or so and share fun things with y'all---hope you enjoy it and if you have questions feel free to ask!!
