Blurb

We interrupt this blog to bring you a word from our sponsor........

I did it!  I finally sat down at my computer and turned my blog entries into a book.  I know lots of people have done it and I heard it was a very tedious and time consuming process, so like everything else in my life I put it off for another day.  Well that day came a couple of weeks ago when so many others were talking about doing theirs.  I had 3 years worth of entries to do, so I was afraid I would be at the computer for hours getting the book to look just right.  Once I downloaded the software and got started on book number one, I was surprised how quickly I got through it.  I rearranged some text and pictures and redid some layouts, but I got it done within about 2 days.  That first book was well over 100 pages, so once I got it done I knew the other 2 books would be much easier since I didn't have as many posts in those years.  I finished all three books within a week.  I ordered them and they arrived last Friday.

They are the coolest things ever!  Once I flipped through them and held them in my hand, I was overcome with a mixed feeling of gratitude and pride.  On one hand I was so proud of this beautiful book I had created that would be a keepsake for our family.  On the other hand, I felt so grateful that we started a blog three years ago.  Even though I feel like this blog is a pain sometimes and no one really cares to reads it, I'm so glad I've kept up with it, because now we have these recorded memories that otherwise would have been lost.  I realized that the main purpose in writing this blog is not for everyone else to read, but as a journal for my family and to preserve those little everyday moments that we otherwise forget.

So if I can give all you bloggers any advice at all, it would be to take the time and money and turn your blog entries into a book because it is SOOO worth it in the end.  I'm actually wrapping them up as Christmas gifts to my family.  I can't wait to see the kids' reactions to them!

I am anxiously waiting mine in the mail too! I had three years of blogging on mine too, but I did them all in one book . . .278 pages later. I also ordered one for each of the Grandparents for Christmas! I really do love that I can look back and remember the little things like you said. Did you get the groupon for Blurb like everyone else?

Shalae,
I missed out on the Groupon deal. But I googled and found a promo code for 20% off my order, so I still got a deal.

Awesome. I've been scared of this seemingly huge task too! Although it has been on my mind...

I LOVE blogger and putting the year into a book. I scrapbook mine more than blog it but I'm thinking of going back to blogging.
