Now that we have 9:00 am church, it seems the need for me to take a nap on Sunday has returned. I'm up late on Saturday nights bathing children, packing the diaper bag, putting the final touches on my lesson (I was just called as a Primary teacher) cleaning up the day's messes, laying out the kids' clothes and making sure Andrew has a clean white shirt. To make it to church on time, I need to wake up by 6:45 or so to get me and four children ready to go. By the time we come home from church at 12, I'm exhausted!!
Yesterday was no exception. After church we came home, had some lunch and then I was ready for a nap! I just got Tanner asleep and put him to bed upstairs. Andrew and I both started to doze off but knew the older kids weren't going to stay quiet so we told them to put in a church movie (or something somewhat Sunday appropriate) and watch it while Mommy and Daddy took a little snooze. Taylor decided to watch the Book of Mormon Stories DVD. She got the picture book out and sat with Zachary and they followed along as they listened to the DVD. Mason wanted to sit with me on the couch recliner, so I let him lay in my lap while I shut my eyes to drift off to sleep. That's all it took because the drowsiness soon kicked in and before we knew it all 5 of us had fallen asleep - even Mason, my sweet boy who no longer takes regular naps. It seems Andrew and I fell asleep first, followed by Mason, Zach then TayTay. Taylor stayed awake the longest, reading along to the video thru more than half of the book. She finally caved in and got her blanket and pillow and fell asleep on the floor. When we awoke from our 'family nap' it had been almost 3 hours!! I couldn't believe we slept for that long - but it felt so nice.
I think they should put a warning label on those Book of Mormon DVD's -
WATCHING THIS DVD MAY CAUSE DROWSINESS, ESPECIALLY IN YOUNG CHILDREN.
So next time you're having a hard time falling asleep or you have a child that refuses to take a nap, just pop in a Book of Mormon Stories DVD! Guaranteed results!!

Good to know! You're a good woman to teach Primary. I can totally relate to busy Sundays, too. I fly solo on Sunday mornings and in Sacrament meeting. But poor Brad - he was at church for over 8 hours yesterday. Yikes! I felt bad cuz I got a nap, too! Les
Thanks for the tip! One that I will use even if it isnt Sunday.
How wonderful! I feel guilty cuz Jon & I usually doze off while Kylee is napping Sunday afternoons - but Aubree stays awake wandering around playing with this or that....
9:00 church?! We were on 1:00 when we were there the WHOLE time! We moved here and got 12:00- in August we switch to 2:00!! I so wish we could all do naps!
That sounds wonderful! That is one of the things I hate most about being the ward chior director. For now the practice is at 1:30 which means no naps for me! I miss my Sunday nap.
That is a great. I could always use a nap. Ken takes one most Sundays even when he was in the bishopric, but I don't remember the last time I took a nap. Sounds fun!
We have mandatory naptime on Sunday afternoons at our house. It has been nice to be able to take a nap on Sunday now that church is at 9!
I am also upset that you guys finally got 9:00 church time back there! How many years did we have to do 1:00 and 1:30? I can't complain now. We are at 11 here and that is okay. I need to get some of those videos. My kids outgrow naps early and I could sure use some quiet time!
Sunday naps are the BEST! Don't you love when everyone takes a nap then you don't have any feelings of regret.
Awesome! I love Sunday naps! Family ones are the best! I'm totally getting those videos
Nice, those days are always the best. Even with one kid we don't get those very often.
What a perfect Sunday afternoon!!! Don't expect that to happen again for a while. Was it hard to get them to sleep that night? I gotta get me some of those dvd's!
