A Little Help

I've been on a quest lately and seem to be running into dead ends. It's very simple really - trying to find some decent church clothes for Taylor, along with shoes.

I have been to a few stores recently and I can't find dresses, skirts, anything! Now I'm no mall shopper and the closest one is the "Ghettos" Mall and I refuse to go there, but you'd think at least Target would have something - but I couldn't find a single thing last time I went. Now I understand why my mom sewed my church dresses all those years!! I guess if I hit a major department store I would probably have better luck.

The whole shoe thing is another matter. Maybe some of you can relate to this, but Taylor has 2 pairs of slipper -like shoes that she wears a lot but they stink so bad! I spray them with Dr. Scholls odor spray but it only seems to help so much, so we decided to get some new shoes to replace the stinky ones. All I can find in stores I've been to are either athletic shoes or all the new spring flip flops. Once again, no luck there. (However, I did see at Target that they are selling these pink "jelly" shoes for girls and I just about squealed in the store. Most of you who are children of the 80's remember jelly shoes? I absolutely LOVED wearing them when I was a kid and wanted to buy them for Taylor just for the nostalgic feeling!)

Anywho, so I'm asking for suggestions and ideas, especially those with daughters. Where do you shop? I'm wondering if online shopping would be successful?

A little help with another problem........When I had Tanner I tried and tried to find a Graco stroller that had the same fabric as his carseat. Since we bought the carseat over 2 years ago when Mason was born, I figure I'm out of luck finding the matching stroller. This weekend we finally bought a stroller to use with his carseat, but now of course the fabrics don't match. His carseat is a light green, but the stroller is mostly chocolate brown with a green accent color. Does anyone know if you can order replacement seat covers from the company? Would it be hard to sew a new cover out of matching fabric? Please help!

Okay I will comiserate (sp?) about trying to find dresses for girls around Maddy's and Taylor's age. Maddy has been in need of dresses for a while and I look whenever I am in Target or Fred Meyer or WalMart or Old Navy, etc. and never seem to be able to find much either! When they were little there was always so much to choose from but as she as gotten older there just isn't anything. I think that we will have to go to the department stores probably. I did find some cute spring dresses that they had out at our target just today in fact, but I don't know what your Target carries. I am also a big fan of consignment stores honestly. I know some people don't care for that and that is fine but I have such a hard time spending a lot of money on my kids clothes when they are going to grow out of them so quickly. I have always had good luck at Kid 2 Kid unfortunately for me they don't have any here. You might try on line with the shoes because you can probably find what you need there. I can't help with the stroller. I have no idea! Good Luck!

Kohls. Penneys. Hint: Stock up for the whole summer at Easter because after Easter, dresses will disappear.
The return of jelly shoes and banana clips - we're all happy now aren't we!

YEA Jelly shoes!!!

Try also The Children's Place. Kohl's is probably a good option too, and Mervyns. I already have to sew a lot of Auri's dresses because she is so hard to fit (too tall for her waist size, too skinny for her height... urrg!). There are a lot of cute patterns out there that are not hard to sew!

As for the stoller - I have no idea, but if you can find the fabric and a pattern, I don't think it would be too hard to make.

My girls love vans, and I saw some really cute knock offs at walmart. They are slip ons. My girls would never wear jelly shoes, because they give them blisters. I know, I agree with the dress dilema. If you do buy them at Target, the whole world has the same one.

I saw some Van knock offs at Target too Jill - they were so cute! I had both Zachary and Taylor try some on, but in the end they wanted to buy something else. And that's so true about Target - a lot of kids are wearing the same stuff as you!!

I've had to start jsut buying one at Christmas and one at Easter- or two if I feel like it other wise it's skirts for the girls. Kohl's has some really cute ones that have grown on me. They seem to mature and grown up for little girl's but they are really cute on them and my kids love them!!
Shoes- I HATE buying shoes!! There is never what I want int he store and it's not like I want anything crazy- is it too much to ask for a normal cute pair of sandals, but not so cheap they fall apart in 2 weeks and not hideous!!??

Ken buys all his shoes at Zappos.com. He loves them and they are out of Vegas so it is pretty quick. Also, if the size doesn't fit, it is free shipping to send them back and get another size.

Heidi- I'm in love with H&M! They just opened one at the new Town Square and everything is so cute and CHEAP. They have a kids section too, me and my mom picked out lots of cute stuff for Hannah's trip to NYC! Its pretty out of the way but totally worth it!

Hi Heidi,

I go to the outlet mall to get some stuff for my 7yrold daughter, Alyssa. I usually find dresses at OshKosh and Children's Place. For shoes, I go to Stride Rite. And actually the Nellis AFB BX is also one place I get some church clothes for my daughter. Hope it helps.
