LInked 52 | Wind

While windy days in Vegas are easy to come by, I found capturing wind was not so easy.  The best example I could find was our neighbor's flag on a breezy afternoon.

Linked 52 | Texture

For those of you who follow me on Instagram, this picture may look familiar.  I took it with my phone back in early October when the photo-a-day prompt was 'something close-up.' After snapping a photo of this leaf and applying a filter or two, I posted it to Instagram, quite pleased with how it turned out.

When I was thinking about this week's theme of Texture, this photo quickly came to mind.  Though I was taking a picture of a simple little leaf lying on our back patio, I loved how I unintentionally captured so much rich detail - the raindrops caught inside the leaf, the frayed and tattered edges of the leaf, and the deep, rough ridges in the patio cement.  It has become one of my favorite IG shots.

Linked 52 | Neighbors

We've lived in this house 2 1/2 years now.  One of the best things about it has been the neighborhood and the people we live next to.  Three of our neighbors are families that we already knew well from our church congregation.  After moving in, we met the other people living on our street.  They have watched over our house while we're away, dog sitted for us, invited our kids to swim in their pools, checked our mail, supported our kids in their fundraisers, brought us gifts and homemade goodies, and let me borrow milk, cereal, cheese, spices, eggs, etc more times than I can count.

It has been such a blessing to be surrounded by these wonderful people as our neighbors.  A very dramatic difference from the neighbors we had at our old house. The family living directly across the street just moved out last week.  We are super sad to see them go, especially our boys.  But we've heard great things about the new family moving in, so we're excited to welcome them into our neighborhood!

Linked 52 | Colors

Here in the desert, we don't have beautiful fall colors just yet.  But I have been surrounded by paint swatches the last few weeks with all the painting going on around here.  It's been fun to pick out colors.

These are the colors I chose - Rain is the color in the boys' room, my kitchen and family room were painted Rainwashed, and Zach's room is Oyster Bay.  The next phase will be hallway, foyer and front rooms - those will be painted Aloof Gray.  What do you think?
